The Historical Buildings group is for members who love old buildings and want to find out more about them. We concentrate on overlooked/undocumented vernacular buildings in and around Aylsham, that way we are more likely to uncover fascinating facts and previously unknown snippets of history relating to the buildings! When investigating a building, we collaborate with the Aylsham Town Archive as well as undertaking research in other historical archives. Each successful research project culminates in a report which is lodged with the Aylsham Town Archive for posterity, as well as being made available to the wider public.
We don't just do research. The group also venture beyond Aylsham to go on guided walks and tours round historical buildings - invitations to these are extended to people on our waiting list.
